About this scholarship

The Hathaway Scholarship is Wyoming's merit award for resident high school graduates attending the University of Wyoming or a Wyoming community college. Effective Jul 1, 2026 the full-time per-semester amounts rose roughly 40 percent to $2,360 (Honors), $1,770 (Performance), $1,180 (Opportunity) and $1,180 (Provisional Opportunity). A separate need-based Hathaway component is available to recipients other than Honors awardees, now paying between $150 and $2,120 per year. Each tier has its own GPA, ACT and success-curriculum requirements set by the Wyoming Department of Education. Full-time for Hathaway purposes means at least 12 non-remedial credit hours (1000 level or higher) per semester; the award is prorated below that.

Renewal terms: Renewable for up to 8 semesters within 6 years of high school graduation, requiring a 2.25-2.5 cumulative GPA depending on tier and continuous enrollment in at least 12 non-remedial credit hours.
