The Oregon Opportunity Grant (OOG) is the state's primary need-based grant for resident undergraduates of any age pursuing a first associate or bachelor's degree. For 2026-27 the maximum award is $3,612 per year at universities and $2,478 per year at community colleges. Eligibility runs off the FAFSA or, for students who cannot file a FAFSA, the Oregon Student Aid Application (ORSAA) - which makes the grant available to some students excluded from federal aid. The 2026-27 Student Aid Index cutoff was 8,000. Awards are made first-come, first-served until the appropriation is exhausted, so filing date matters as much as need: the 2026-27 cutoff for original applications was May 15, 2026.
Renewal terms: Renewable while the student remains an Oregon resident, maintains satisfactory academic progress, and refiles the FAFSA or ORSAA each year by the cutoff. Capped at the equivalent of 12 full-time terms.
