The Excelsior Scholarship makes SUNY and CUNY tuition-free for eligible New York middle-class families. It is a last-dollar award after Pell, TAP, and other aid is applied. Recipients must remain in NY State for the same number of years they receive the award after graduation, or the award converts to a loan.
Renewal terms: Renewable for up to 4 years of undergraduate study; must continue residency obligation after graduation.
