About this scholarship

The Legislative Lottery Scholarship pays a portion of tuition at New Mexico public colleges and universities, with the covered percentage set each year by the state legislature from lottery revenue. It is awarded automatically - there is no application. Students must hold a New Mexico high school diploma, a New Mexico GED or HiSET, or a Confirmation of Registration with the Public Education Department, and must enroll in college within 16 months of finishing high school. Eligibility begins after a qualifying first college semester in which the student earns a 2.5 GPA and passes 12 credits. Renewal requires a 2.5 cumulative GPA and 12-18 credit hours passed per semester and 30 per academic year, for a maximum of seven semesters. The separate New Mexico Opportunity Scholarship covers remaining tuition and fees for many of the same students and is worth checking alongside this one.

Renewal terms: Requires a 2.5 cumulative GPA and 12-18 credit hours passed each semester, 30 per academic year. Maximum of seven semesters total.
