Who's eligible
Women who are NOT U.S. citizens and do not hold or have applied for U.S. permanent residency, holding a degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's with at least a 3.5/4.0 GPA, pursuing a first master's or a doctorate full-time in the U.S. in a STEM field or medicine (not postdoctoral study). U.S. citizens and green-card holders are explicitly ineligible — this is the inverse of AAUW's other fellowships.

AAUW International Fellowships support women pursuing a first master's or an academic or professional doctorate full-time in the United States, in STEM fields only (life, physical, earth/environmental and health sciences; computing and data; engineering; mathematics and statistics; and medicine, including MD, DO, DDS/DMD, OD, PharmD and DVM). Applicants must not be U.S. citizens and must not hold, or have applied for, U.S. permanent residency. They need a degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's with a minimum 3.5/4.0 GPA. Stipends are $20,000 for a master's degree and $25,000 for a doctorate. Fellows in the 2027-28 cycle begin by September 15, 2027 and, if graduating during the award year, finish no earlier than April 30, 2028.
