Women who are NOT U.S. citizens and do not hold or have applied for U.S. permanent residency, holding a degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's with at least a 3.5/4.0 GPA, pursuing full-time graduate or postdoctoral study in the U.S. U.S. citizens and green-card holders are explicitly ineligible — this is the inverse of AAUW's other fellowships.

About this scholarship

AAUW International Fellowships support women pursuing full-time graduate or postdoctoral study in the United States who are not U.S. citizens and do not hold — or have applied for — U.S. permanent residency. Applicants must hold an academic degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's with a minimum 3.5/4.0 GPA. Stipends are $20,000 for a master's degree and $25,000 for a doctorate. For the 2027-28 cycle, fellows are expected to begin or continue their programs by September 15, 2027, and those graduating during the award year must finish no earlier than April 30, 2028.
